How fast and green could we build an urban guesthouse with an indoor basketball court? That was the challenge posed to us by our client. Studio Nigro, working with Bob Brobson Inc., proposed a quick construction method using precast, super-insulated concrete Thermomass wall panels. After obtaining one of the first permits from the City of Chicago’s Green Permit Program, we raised the structure in just seven days. In just one week’s time, we were ready to complete this unique guesthouse with a skin of reclaimed redwood, adding depth and warmth to the facade.
