Previously home to an elevator factory, this building was to be reimagined as a residential space. The owners engaged Studio Nigro to create a plan for transforming this massive structure into a home that would take full advantage of the spacious lot. Our design added a contemporary second floor element and perforated screen to the brick structure. By balancing negative space and green space in varying degrees, we created glass voids that would push through the masonry and provide fluid connections to the landscape. Covered outdoor rooms were added to further connect the interior and exterior life of the home.
