Soaking up the slower pace of Italy and its appreciation for culture, art and academia was what Kim Nigro most enjoyed as recipient of the Burnham Prize Fellowship in Architecture at the American Academy in Rome. She studied her subject–the Tiber River–on a daily basis in order to understand its complex political, natural, infrastructural and spiritual layers. Using a combination of traditional and digital mediums, Kim’s series of sectional collages suggest a method of finding meaning and impetus for new visions of old places.
