Studio Nigro was excited to work with one of Chicago’s best Asian fusion restaurants in renovating their space, elevating the interior atmosphere to match the level of the establishment’s exquisite food. We designed a new sushi bar as the focal point, connecting two previously separate dining spaces. Using shou sugi ban, an ancient Japanese technique that preserves wood by charring it, we added texture and depth to the palette while maintaining the client’s desire for a minimalist, yet warm aesthetic.
